Belarus (Pisanenko, 1995), Europe, North Africa, Egypt , Congo , North America and Brazil (Smetana, 2004; Kapp, 2019). Cosmopolitan species. NOTES. Beetles are found in rotten hay, compost, and other decaying plant debris from spring to autumn. In some places this species is common.
