( Mizunuma & Nagai 1994 ; Krajcik 2003 ; Pinratana & Maes 2003 ; Fujita 2010 ) Remarks. Krajcik (2003) remarked that the name Aegus parallelus Hope, 1845 must be changed to Aegus platycephalus Westwood, 1844 , which has a priority to be senior synonym. However, A. platycephalus was combined to the genus Lucanus by Westwood (1845) . The name Lucanus platycephalus ( Westwood, 1844 ) became a junior secondary homonym of Lucanus platycephalus Hope, 1842 . Thus, he gave it the replacement name as Lucanus capitatus Westwood, 1845 . Therefore, the senior synonym priority must be given to Aegus aequalis Westwood, 1844 instead. Nevertheless, we are unable to examine the type material of Aegus aequalis Westwood, 1844 and Lucanus capitatus Westwood, 1845 and would leave the taxonomical solution to further studies. We suggest to examine all the types of the synonyms described by Westwood, 1844 and verify their actual status. As a result, we decide to maintain the name Aegus parallelus ( Hope, 1845 ) , sensu auctorum in this study.
