Species recognition. This species is recognized by the contrastingly dark midcoxa and the structure of the hind femur, with a basal triangular lobe bearing a triangular group of peglike setae, followed more distally by two dorsoventral carinae defining a shallow concavity.
Description. Note colors based on a newly-collected specimen from
Colombia
. Body length:
1.84–2.44 mm
. Head: Frons dark brown, except light brown on anterior margin and around bases of setae, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 round, light brown. Palpus slightly enlarged, inflated, yellow. Thorax: Scutum light brown. Scutellum brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta three-quarters length of posterior seta. Pleuron yellowish-brown. Mean costal length 0.48 wing length, range 0.46–0.51. Halter yellow. Legs yellowish-brown. Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa brown. Hind coxa yellow. Hind coxal lobe yellow, only slightly developed. Posterior face of hind femur with triangular group of peglike setae on triangular lobe; more distally with two dorsoventral carinae defining shallow concavity (

). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 yellow, with faint brown lateral marking, tergites 2–6 dark brown, with yellow anterior and posterior margins. Venter of abdomen yellow, with few setae, larger on posterior margin of segment 5. Male terminalia with epandrium yellowish-brown, hypandrium brown, and cercus yellow.
