Species recognition. This species is easily recognized by the enlarged, sinuous hind coxal lobe, as well as the narrow ventral process of the hind femur.
Description. Body length:
1.91–2.15 mm
. Head: Frons brown, second row of setae slightly concave. Flagellomere 1 rounded-oval, light brown. Palpus of normal size, yellow. Thorax: Scutum brown. Scutellum dark brown, with 2 pairs of setae; anterior seta three-quarters length of posterior seta. Pleuron with anepisternum and proepisternum brown, rest of pleuron light brown. Mean costal length 0.53 wing length, range 0.51– 0.54. Halter yellow. Legs mostly yellow (except hind femur darker posterodorsally). Forecoxa in lateral view yellow. Foretibia with 3–4 dorsal setae. Foretarsomeres slender, elongate. Midcoxa dark brown. Hind coxa yellow. Hind coxal lobe whitish-yellow, dorsally and ventrally brown, curved, bare dorsally, with elongate, downturned, hairy process ventrally (

). Posterior face of hind femur with narrow, freely-ending ventral process; near base of process with few ventrally-pointed, strongly curved setulae; more basally with toothlike process; near mid-depth with three ventrally-pointed setulae (

). Abdomen: Abdominal tergite 1 dark brown, tergites 2–6 dark brown. Venter of abdomen gray, with few longer setae on segment 5. Male terminalia dark brown, except cercus yellow.
Distribution. Amazonian South America.
Derivation of specific epithet. From Latin
sinuosus
, for bending, referring to the sinuous hind coxal lobe.
