Type locality: Mt. Mitake-san. Material examined. CHINA : 1 ♂ , Mt. Yangga, Wen County ( 32.93ºN , 104.68ºE ), Gansu Province, 2000 m , 5.vii.2001 , leg. Houhun Li & Xinpu Wang, gen. slide no. CYP 12047. Diagnosis. Adult ( Fig. 11 ) with wingspan 37.0 mm. The orbicular and reniform stigmata, the postmedial line and the subterminal band are well-developed in P. taiwanensis sasakii as in P. ussurialis , but P. taiwanensis sasakii can be recognized by the male having a subtrapezoidal reniform stigma, which is somewhat rectangular in the latter species; the male genitalia are characterised by having a short and curved sella, a juxta that is concave shallowly on the posterior margin, and a phallus with L-shaped cornutus ( Fig. 19 ); in P. ussurialis , the sella is straight, the juxta is concave deeply in a broad V shape on the posterior margin, and the phallus bears a C-shaped cornutus. Distribution. China (Gansu, Hubei, Sichun, Yunnan), Japan , Russia (Far East). Ecology. Caught in mountains at 2000 m . Flight period in early July.
