Teucrium polium
Linnaeus
,
Species Plantarum
2
: 566. 1753
.
"Habitat in Italia, Hispania, Lusitania, Narbonia." RCN: 4149.
Lectotype
(Siddiqi in Jafri & El-Gadi,
Fl. Libya
118: 25. 1985): Herb. Linn. No. 722.35 (
LINN
)
.
Current name:
Teucrium polium
L.
(
Lamiaceae
).
Note:
Hedge & Lamond (in
Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh
28: 147. 1968) indicated unspecified material at LINN as type but did not distinguish between sheets 722.35 and 722.36 (which are evidently not part of a single gathering so Art. 9.15 does not apply). Navarro &
Rosua
(in
Anales Jard. Bot. Madrid
47: 35-41. 1989) provide an extensive discussion and designate as
lectotype
a specimen (in M) sent by Linnaeus to Schreber. However,
Siddiqi's
type choice of 722.35 (LINN) has priority, and Navarro & El Oualidi (in
Acta Bot. Malac.
22: 195. 1997) appear to have subsequently accepted this.
