This is an inhabitant of large lowland rivers that was once rather common in central and northern Europe. It suffered a dramatic decline in most of its range due to pollution and habitat fragmentation (
Zwick 1992
,
2004
;
Fochetti & de Figueroa 2006
;
Koese 2008: 91
). It is a rare species in Scandinavia as well (Hoffsten & Malqvist 2003). The material in the NHM contains no complete specimen. The Norwegian data portal Artskart contains two observations of these species based on collection specimens. As these were collected in the province of
Troms
, outside of the species’ known distribution (
Lillehammer 1985
,
1988
;
Zwick 1992
), the identification should be checked.
