ỔĀừ步m Figs. 3–4 Type material ( 1 specimen ). Holotype : CHINA : , labelled ‘ China : Chongqing City ( AE庆市 ), Beibei District ( 北 Ḋ区) , Jinyun Village ( Dz云村 ), Jinyun Mountain ( Dz云山 ), elevation 790 m , 29°51’12.21”N , 106°23’01.04”E , 06.VI.2020 , Qiu Lu leg.’ ( SCAU ). Diagnosis. Body shiny, dark brown with weakly aeruginous gloss, legs, labrum, palpi and antennae reddish brown. Frontal grooves irregular and impunctate, labrum with six setigerous punctures, clypeus with two setigerous punctures. Pronotum global, with a pair of setigerous punctures. Elytra with eight distinct striae, except stria I, other striae shallow, shoulders largely rounded, each elytron with two setigerous punctures at base, two setigerous punctures near apex. Description. Male. Body ( Fig. 3A ) dark brown with weakly aeruginous gloss, slender and obviously convex, dorsal surface very shiny. Head ( Fig. 3B ) wider than long, convex, dorsal surface shiny, lacking punctures, frontal grooves irregular and impunctate. Labrum nearly rectangular, with six setigerous punctures and almost straight at apical margin. Apical margin of clypeus weakly emarginate with two setigerous punctures. Eyes large, supraorbital setae anterior to rear margin of eyes. Antenna longer than the combination of head and pronotum. Antennomeres I–IV glabrous, V–XI densely pubescent. Pronotum ( Fig. 3B ), globose, distinctly convex, slightly longer than wide, widest slightly anterior of middle, equally constricted at anterior and basal margins, dorsal surface shiny without punctures. Median longitudinal impression and anterior impression shallow but distinct. One pair of setigerous punctures located at anterior middle of lateral margin of pronotum. FIGURE 3. A. Dorsal habitus of Broscosoma qiului sp. nov. male. B. Same, head and pronotum, dorsal view. Note: red dots, setigerous punctures. Elytra ( Fig. 4A ), longer than wide, strongly convex, dorsal surface shiny, each elytron with eight distinct striae, stria I deep, II–VIII shallow. Scutellum nearly triangular, small. Shoulders largely rounded, narrow. Each elytron with four setigerous punctures, two pairs located at base and two pairs located near apex. The inner setigerous punctures of basal elytra located near base of stria II, outer punctures located at shoulders; the inner apical setigerous punctures located near apex of stria II, outer puncture located at apex of stria VIII. Legs simple, glabrous, only tibial apex with few thin setae, protarsomeres slightly dilated. Median lobe of aedeagus ( Fig. 4B ) simple, strongly curved, ending in a narrow and rounded tip; right paramere ( Fig. 4C ) arcuate, obviously narrowed at apex, with dense long setae along apical margin; left paramere ( Fig. 4D ) expanded at middle and tapering to narrow at apex, apically without setae. FIGURE 4 . Diagnostic features of Broscosoma qiului sp. nov. A. Elytra; B. Aedeagus, lateral view; C. Right paramere; D. Left paramere. Abbreviations: sut, suture of elytra; s, elytral stria. Note: red line, suture of elytra; red dots, setigerous punctures. Female. Unknown. Measurements (mm). BL 7.23; HL 1.20, HW 1.40; PL 2.13, PW 1.87; EL 3.90, EW 2.60. Distribution. China : Chongqing City. Biological notes. This new species was collected on moss of a wettish stone near forest. Etymology. This species is named in honor of our friend Dr. Lu Qiu ( Chongqing , China ), who collected the new species and donated it to us for study. Remarks. The new species is most similar to B. xuhaoi , but can be distinguished from the latter by the following characters: 1) apical margin of the clypeus with only two setigerous punctures (cf. four); 2) striae II–VIII on the elytra shallow (cf. deeper); 3) the male aedeagus much curved (cf. curved more slightly); 4) the left paramere lacking setae (cf. with setae); 5) apex of the right paramere narrower (cf. wider). It can be distinguished from B. guoliangi sp. nov. by the following characters: 1) striae on the elytra slightly shallow (deeper); 2) apex of the male aedeagus narrow (cf. wider); 3) apex of the male parameres narrow (cf. wider).
