Neotype designations and nomenclatural actions for Apionidae described by Johann Ludwig Christian Carl Gravenhorst in 1807 (Coleoptera, Curculionoidea) Author Giusto, Carlo text Zootaxa 2015 3986 5 597 600 journal article 10.11646/zootaxa.3986.5.8 6b2c956e-451c-4221-9ac2-7c3ddae214d5 1175-5326 234215 0C5A593C-A726-438C-8604-D08425EE249D Apion chloris Gravenhorst, 1807 : 199 Gravenhorst compared this species with Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) and Perapion marchicum (Herbst, 1797) . Despite its very short original description, body sheen and dimension (“nicht völlig eine Linie lang”, and therefore less than 2.2–2.3 mm long) suggest Apion chloris to be conspecific with Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) . In accordance, a specimen of Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) is here designated as the neotype of A. chloris . It is a male (fig. 2) labelled: Umg. The following new synonymy is proposed: Ischnopterapion virens (Herbst, 1797) = Apion chloris Gravenhorst, 1807 , syn. n.
