Range:Costa Rica , Panama , Colombia , Ecuador , Peru , and Bolivia (CO). Ecology: —Rare (known from 4 collections); in wet submontane forests near river margins; 2000–2250 m . Notes: —Blades ternate, 3-pinnate-pinnatifid; proximal pinnae pedicellate, the pedicels (ca. 2.5 cm long), not winged; stipes lacking spines; venation free; awns present on costae adaxially; ultimate segments ca. 3 mm wide ( Arbeláez 1995 ). This species can be recognized by the whitish prickles and dense reddish brown hairs on the blade axes (few scales seen).
