Cossypha semirufa saturatior
Neumann, 1906a: 7
(Bola goschana in Doko).
Now
Cossypha semirufa semirufa
(Rüppell, 1840)
. See
Ripley, 1964: 54
, and Keith et al., 1992: 429.
HOLOTYPE
:
AMNH 580667
, adult female, collected at
Bola
goschana,
Doko
,
Ethiopia
, on
12 February 1901
, by
Oscar Neumann
(no. 786).
From
the Rothschild Collection.
COMMENTS: In the original description, Neumann gave the sex, locality, and date for the type, which he collected, without giving the number of specimens. It bears the Neumann field label, marked ‘‘Typus’’ in Neumann’s hand, and the Rothschild type label. It is also the only Neumann specimen from this locality that came to AMNH with the Rothschild Collection.
Hartert (1920: 473)
added Neumann’s field number of the type, thus unambiguously designating it the
lectotype
, should other Neumann specimens be found bearing the same data as the above specimen.
Paratypes
in AMNH are: AMNH 580668–580672.
Neumann (1904a: 323)
listed his collecting localities and showed his route on a map in
Neumann (1902)
. R. Dowsett (personal commun.) placed Bola goschana, Doko, at ca. 068159N, 368509E, which is in close agreement with Neumann’s map.
