Plovdiv Province : “ Crassulaceae , r. Sempervivum L., v. S. velenovskyi Cheshm. , po skalisti mesta pod Asenovgrad, 11. 8. 68 [on rocky places at Asenovgrad, 11 August 1968 ] Typus! Cheshm.” Cheshmedjiev s.n . ( SOA 47199!, the specimen with inflorescence). Fig. 9 . Notes :— Cheshmedjiev (1969: 474) gave complete information of the type specimen: “ Montes Rhodopes centrales, prope urbem Assenovgrad, loco Koru-dere dicto, in locis saxosis et lapidosis. 20 IX 1967 , Leg. I. Cheshmedjiev, SOA .” However, it was not possible to find the holotype in the SOA herbarium. In accordance with Art. 9.12 of the Code ( McNeill et al. 2012 ) another uncited specimen representing original material found in SOA (47199) is selected here as the lectotype of S. velenovskyi . This specimen was collected by Cheshmedjiev before the date of publication of the name, most likely from the same locality as the specimen cited in the protologue, although only the town Assenovgrad is mentioned.
