Burgeon 1935 : 181 ; Häckel et Farkač 2012 : 80 . Note. The original description of this species was based on specimens labelled “Kwako bis Kimpoko”. Description (in part, see Kolbe 1889 : 116). “Length 22 mm . It strongly resembles [ C .] impictus ( Boheman, 1848 ) and [ C .] carbonarius ( Harold, 1879 ) , but differs by elytral coloration, with orange maculae and less deeply punctured striae. It also differs from C. impictus by the pronotum, which is narrower, and the head, which is more elongated. Body black, glossy, quite coarsely sculptured; each elytron with two maculae, humeral located in basal half and consisting of five macular spots extending from 3rd to 8th interval, with serrate posterior margin; and preapical located in apical half and consisting of three small triangular or ovoid spots covering 4th, 6th and 8th intervals. Head elongated, labrum very short, weakly rimmed in front; pronotum somewhat wider than long, almost hexagonal, with lateral margins narrowing both anteriorly and posteriorly in arcuate lines, narrowly rimmed, widely elevated in front of hind angles, disc coarsely rugate, punctured, with two elongated basal tips, widening medial, sagittal line finely impressed; hind angles obtuse. Elytra distinctly wider than pronotum, striae coarsely punctured, intervals convex, rugate and sparsely punctured. Metepisterna narrow, about twice longer than wide. Ventrites anteriorly not crenulated” [translated from German ]. Type not seen, species placed in the C. reflexus group on the basis of characters given in the original description (shape of metepisterna, absence of crenulations on anterior margins of ventrites); coloration resembles that of C. bonnyi . Distribution. Democratic Congo : Bandundu Province. The territory between Kwako and Kimpoko-Nsele on Malebo Pool is located in the Kwango District, Bandundu province
