Eugenia umbrosa Berg (1859: 582) [ Fig. 3A ; Fig 5K ] Endemic to the Atlantic Forest ( Sobral et al . 2009 ) from the Northeast to Southeast regions of Brazil ( Govaerts et al. 2010 , Proença & Sobral 2006 ). Trees 3–7 m tall, leaves 10.5–27.0 × 5.5–7.5 cm , midvein flat or raised on adaxial lamina surface, raceme with the main axes reduced, bracts linear-lanceolate, bracteoles rotund-lanceolate, hypanthium glabrous, fruit ellipsoid and verrucose with seeds ellipsoid and maculate.
