As a result of a phylogenetical analysis (
Mantilleri, 2009
), the genus
Higonodes
Zimmerman, 1994
was downgraded to the rank of a subgenus of
Higonius
. Indeed, characters cited to support the creation of the monotypic genus
Higonodes
are mainly autapomorphic, without phylogenetic implications. No specimens from
Australia
could be examined, but the good illustrations in
Zimmerman (1994: 185–187)
leave no doubt about the occurrence of this species in this country. It also occurs in New
Guinea
.
