This European species is here newly recorded from
China
. It can be distinguished from most
Anaphothrips
species by the following combination of characters: Body uniformly dark brown; head dorsal surface sculptured with irregular polygonal reticulations behind eyes (

); pronotum with distinct polygonal reticulations at anterior (
Fig. 13
); antennae 8-segmented (
Fig. 25
); meso- and metanotum slightly transverse (
Fig. 19
); metascutum without campaniform sensilla (
Fig. 19
); abdominal tergites and sternites with polygonal reticulation medially (
Fig. 36
); tergite VIII without a microtrichial posteromarginal comb but sometimes with weakly developed teeth (
Fig. 42
).
