Distribution.
This species ranges from Newfoundland (Lindroth 1955a: 83) to the Chukchi Sea coast in northwestern Alaska (Lindroth 1961a: 183), south to north-central Washington (Pohl 1998: 690), northern Minnesota (Clearwater and Lake Counties, CNC), the upper peninsula of Michigan (Escanaba, MCZ), and north-central Maine (Larochelle and
Lariviere
1990a: 28; Piscataquis County, CNC). The species is also known from the Far East (Zamotajlov 2003b: 285). Fossil remnants, dated between 10,400 and 15,400 years B.P., have been unearthed in Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia (Miller 1997: 250) and central Iowa (Schwert 1992: 76); others from a Plio-Pleistocene sequence have been found in northwestern Greenland (
Boecher
1995: 23).
