This subspecies ranges from Mendocino County in California south to the northern parts of the Baja California Peninsula and southern Arizona (Ball and Negre 1972: 482, Fig. 40); it also occurs on the Channel Islands. The record from "Nevada" (Ball and Negre 1972: 482) is doubtful. The subspecies is adventive in Hawaii (Liebherr and Zimmerman 2000: 465). Records. USA : AZ, CA (CHI) [NV] - Mexico Note. According to Ball and Negre (1972: 482), this form intergrades with the ignicollis form along the Great Central Valley of California.
