) easily identifies this species with
Varuna litterata

Fabricius, 1798
) (Varunidae)
, a species common in
French Polynesia

). An allied species,
V. yui
Hwang & Takeda, 1986
, also occurs in the western part of the Pacific, but this species does not reach so far east (
