Diversity.
About 75 species (Lorenz 2005: 453) arrayed in two subgenera,
Tetragonoderus
s.str. with about 35 species in the Old World and
Crossonychus
for the Western Hemisphere species.
Identification.
Lindroth (1969a: 1010) included a key to four of the five species found in North America.
