Families: 3 families with 13 genera and 92 species: Family Ochotonidae Thomas 1896 (1 genus with 30 species and 52 subspecies) Family Prolagidae Gureev 1964 (1 genus with 1 species) Family Leporidae Fischer 1817 (11 genera with 61 species and 186 subspecies) Discussion: Relationships between this order and Rodentia have been disputed for over a century. Its early history was discussed by Simpson (1945) , while Landry (1999) provided an overview of more recent literature on the subject, discussing many synapomorphies, mostly morphological, that support the concept of a Cohort Glires including both orders. Molecular sequence data also support the concept ( Huchon et al., 1999 ).
