Platyrhacus ( Tirodesmus ) riparius : Attems 1938 : 238 , Fig. 268 (combination; description). Types : 2 ♂ , 2 ♀ syntypes from Costa Rica : Rio General (" Cotê Pacifique "), P. Biolley leg. Deposited at the MHNG , cat. no. MHNG-ARTO-15120 ( J. Hollier , pers. comm.). Distribution: known only from the type locality. Comments: The type material jar contains an undated typewritten note by Hoffmann considering this species to belong to the genus Tirodesmus Cook, 1896 (J. Hollier, pers. comm.). Apparently this was never published and the species is not included in his Checklist of the millipedes of North and Middle America ( Hoffman 1999 ), where he could have proposed a new combination. According to Carl's illustration the gonopods are Barydesmus like, so by now we retain the species under this genus.
