Gnaphalium odoratissimum
Linnaeus
,
Species Plantarum

: 855. 1753
.
"Habitat - -
-"
RCN: 6175.
Lectotype
(Hedberg in
Symb. Bot. Upsal.
15(1): 201. 1957): [icon] "
Elichrysum latifolium
villosum, alato caule, odoratissimum
" in Plukenet, Phytographia: t. 173, f. 6. 1692; Almag. Bot.: 134. 1696.
Current name:
Helichrysum odoratissimum
(L.) Sweet
(
Asteraceae
).
Note:
Hedberg's
type choice pre-dates type assessments made by Hilliard & Burtt (in
Notes Roy. Bot. Gard. Edinburgh
32: 353. 1973), who indicated 989.49, 989.50 and 989.51 (LINN) as types. The same authors (in
Bot. J. Linn. Soc.
82: 245, 253. 1981) designated 989.48 as
lectotype
, but this collection lacks the
Species Plantarum
number (i.e.
"27"
), was a post-1753 addition to the collection, and is not original material for the name.
