11.0 mm, dorsally black brown, ventrally gray except orange brown on nudum. Labial palpi: the second segment thick, ventrally grayish; the third segment erect, thin and pointed. Thorax and abdomen brown dorsally and grayish ventrally. Length of forewing 20.5
–
21.0mm. Forewing: upperside ground colour brown, spots white; two cell spots subequal; subapical spots in spaces R3
–
R5 arranged in a curve; spot in spaces M2 small, spots in M3 and Cu1 large and oblong; stigma in space Cu2 often broken, grayish in colour; Underside forewing: ground colour slightly paler than upperside; markings as the same as upperside except for the white patch in space Cu2. Hindwing: upperside brown, with basal pale brown hairs; spots in spaces M1
–
Cu1 dot-like with the spot in space M2 slightly protruded toward base. Underside of hindwing scattered with grayish scales; markings as the same as those on upperside. Cilia of both wings gray.

Male genitalia (
Figs. 15
–
20
): Tegumen swollen; gnathos bifid; uncus with distal and dorsal portions bifurcated, and a pair of processes on the dorsal portion; saccus slender; valva nearly rectangular, with harpe outside serrate and terminally pointed; phallus about 1.5 times as long as valva, with suprazonal sheath prominently shorter than subzonal sheath, distally bifurcated with two elongated and heavily spined processes; cornuti oval; juxta Ushaped.
Female: Unknown.
Distribution:
Zhejiang,
China
..
Host plant:
Unknown.
Voltinism:
Probably univoltine; adult occurs from June to August.
Etymology:
The specific name is derived from Ji-Gong, an ancient monk in Chinese popular legend.
Diagnosis:
P. jigongi
is characterized by the presence of an oval cornuti in phallus in male genitalia. Only four congeneric species in Chinese fauna,
P. m e n c i a
,
P. theca
,
P. nascens
, and
P. micropunctata
possess cornuti. The new species can be distinguished from those four species by the following combination of characters (We don’t know whether
P. minuta
and
P. annama
which out of Chinese fauna with the cornuti, whereas for comparing with the description and illustrations by
Evans 1949
, shows the appearance and structure of male genitalia of those two species are very different to the new taxon).

. Male genitalia of
Polytremis jigongi
. 15, lateral view of ring; 16, juxta; 17, dorsal view of phallus; 18, lateral view of phallus; 19, inner view of left valva; 20, dorsal view of tegumen. Scale bar = 1 mm.
In appearance, the stgima of
P. jigongi
often broken, variable in length, and gray in colour, which is absent in
P. theca
, linear shaped in
P. micropunctata
and
P. m en c ia
, equable in length and pale brown in
P. nascens
.
There are two cell spots in
P. jigongi
, but only the upper cell spot presents in
P. nascens
and
P. micropunctata
. The spot in space Cu1 is close to the spot in M
3 in
P. jigongi
, while it is close to the lower cell spot in
P. theca
. A strong white patch on the forewing underside in space Cu2 present in
P. jigongi
, which is reduced or absent in other four species. In male genitalia, the harpe in
P. jigongi
is serrate on its outer edge and without process, whereas in
P. nascens
and
P. m e n c i a
with an apical process, and in
P. micropunctata
heavily spined (
Huang 2002: Fig. 60
).
