Notes:— Bolivian specimens are usually assigned to var. pachyrhachis , which has hairs on the pinnae adaxially restricted to the costae and veins or completely lacking; Thelypteris pachyrhachis var. bogotensis (C.Chr.) Alston , which may also occur in Bolivia , has hairs on the blade surfaces adaxially and along the margins. However, the taxonomy of this complex needs re-examination.
