TYPE SPECIES . — Xhosacetus hendeysi n. gen., n. sp. , by present designation. ETYMOLOGY. — From Xhosa, one of the official languages of South Africa , characterized by prominent clicks (the word Xhosa itself starts with a click), somewhat reminiscent of the echolocative clicks produced by odontocetes, and from Latin “cetus”, whale.
