Milne Edward, 1853 Persian Gulf. Saudi Arabia ( Apel 2001 ), UAE ( Apel 2001 ), Iran (Naderloo 2011; present study) Iran . Hormozgan Province : Qeshm I. (five stations along the south coast). General distribution. Northwestern Indian Ocean: Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman , and recently entered South Mediterranean Sea from the Red Sea through the Suez Canal (Zaouali et al . 2007; Galil 2011 ). Habitat. Rocky/cobble intertidal. Remarks. Grapsus granulosus H. Milne Edwards, 1853 , has repeatedly been considered to be a junior synonym of Grapsus albolineatus (e.g. Alcock 1900 ; Banerjee 1960; Davie 2002), whereas Crosnier (1965), Vannini & Valmori (1981), Zaouali et al . (2007), Ng et al . (2008) and Naderloo (2011) considered it as a distinct species. This species is distinguishable from its closely related congener, G . albolineatus , by using a combination of characters (see Naderloo 2011).
