It is found in humid forests from sea level to 2,100 m . Hosts of adults include small to large carnivores, especially members of the Viverridae ( Hoogstraal and Trapido 1966a ; Grassman et al . 2004 ). Immatures have been found on the common tree shrew ( Tupaia glis ), Berdmore’s ground squirrel ( Menetes berdmorei ) (nymphs) and Rattus sp. (larvae), as well as various wild carnivores (Saito et al . 1971; Grassman et al . 2004 ). The male, female, nymph and larva are described in Hoogstraal and Trapido (1966a) .
