J. (1840) Monographies de mammalogie, ou Description de quelques genres de mammifères, dont les espèces ont été observées dans les différens musées de l'Europe. Tome 2: 233 [1–392]. Leiden, 1835–1841. Valid name: Pipistrellus abramus (Temminck, 1838) Syntypes : ZMB 2568 [a–b] ( two specimens ), bodies in alcohol, skulls extracted, male and female, adults; Japan ; collected by Siebold , ex RMNH. Comment: According to Jentink (1888: 180) there were six “types” of V. akokomuli at the RMNH , of which one specimen collected by Siebold had come from Nagasaki , Japan , while the other five specimens , also from Japan , were without any further data. The two specimens , ZMB 2568 [a–b], agree with the data mentioned for the RMNH specimens and are probably syntypes since no holotype was designated .
