SMIB 8: stn DW 187, 23°18’S , 168°06’E , 390-540 m , 1 lv . DISTRIBUTION. — West Pacific : from southern Japan to the Philippines , 100-200 m , rocks (Higo et al. 1999: 221). Norfolk Ridge, live in 390-540 m . REMARKS. — Protoconch of 2.8 conical whorls, 625 Μm high, 800 Μm wide at the base. Protoconch-I of about 0.8 whorls, sculptured with pustules over the entire surface. Protoconch-II of about 2 whorls, with 2 spiral keels, and sculptured with a series of subsutural threads and a series of similar threads over each keel; a diffuse granulation is present in the interspaces. Molecular data ( Oliverio & Mariottini 2001a ) indicate affinity with the group of spinyshelled coralliophilines ( Babelomurex / Latiaxis ).
