Diagnosis.
Males of
E. perfidus
comb. nov.
are recognized by the male palp tibia for having a dorsal projection with a bifid apex, with two flattened tips, which fit into the cymbium concavity. Females possess the epigynum with large and protruding plaque with curved sides, much narrower in front than in the back (
Figs 8
,
9
).
Transference and synonymy:
Detailed study of the
Tenedos perfidus
type
material collected in
Mato Grosso
(MCP 2545 and 2546) showed that specimen has the diagnostic characteristics of the genus: posterior eye row strongly procurve, medium and lateral posterior spinnerets fused in the females and the total absence of these spinnerets in the males, exhibiting the typical morphology of
Epicratinus
. Examining the description of
E. santacruz
(see
Grismado & Izquierdo, 2016
) and the available material
type
of
Epicratinus perfidus
, showed that these species have the same diagnostic characteristics and are herein considered synonyms.
