OConnor et al . (1991) collected the mite from the same host and from flowers of Heliconia hirsuta and H . bihai (Heliconiaceae) . The Heliconia spp. are probably exclusive host plants of this mite in Trinidad (Naskrecki & Colwell, 1998). This is the first record of it outside Trinidad . Material examined. One female from Phaethornis superciliosus , Hitoy Cerere BR, August 2004 , coll. I. Literak.
