Comments.
With 286 species,
Lepidoptera
is the second most species-rich order of insects in the
Socotra
Archipelago. 105 species (36%) are endemic to the archipelago. Some groups were recently revised in detail, for example:
Cossidae (
BORTH et al. 2011
)
,
Geometridae
(
HAUSMANN 2006
,
2009
),
Pterophoridae (
ARENBERGER 2009
)
, or Noctuoidea (
HACKER 2016
;
HACKER & SALDAITIS 2010
, 2011). An actual list of 27 Socotran butterflies was published by
FRIC & HULA (2013)
and
FRIC et al. (2017)
. However, other families like
Pyralidae
or
Tortricidae
are awaiting a comprehensive revision.
