Ecology: —Uncommon; terrestrial, rarely epiphytic, mostly on banks and roadsides, in humid regions, survives unsuitable growth conditions such as droughts or fires with the underground tubers; to 1450 m . Notes: —Rhizomes erect, almost non-existent, annual, stoloniferous, with ovoid, scaly tubers; rhizome scales concolorous, linear, entire, orange to pale brown; petioles stramineous, glabrous or with scattered scales; rachises glabrous except at pinna bases; pinnae apically acuminate, tapering gradually from the bases, thin-textured, with distinct veins; indusia lunate, 1.5–2 mm wide. Typically, this species has few (often only one), short leaves with usually less than 35 pinna pairs on each leaf.
