Tetragonoderus
(
Tetragonoderus
)
quadrum
(Fabricius, 1792)
Distribution
: ERI, ETI, GAM, GBI, MAR, RCH, SEN, SOM.
Distribution in Guinea-Bissau (Administrative Regions):
2) CAC.
Historic records:
“Possessions françaises et portugaises sur le Sénégal” (without precise locality) (Chaudoir 1876).
Material examined:
Cacheu (IBAP) (12º 15´29.59´´ N, 16º 09´24.45´´ W, 25 m alt.) (CAC), 25.VI.2009, 1 male, LT, A. Serrano leg., ASC.
Remarks.
The species is distributed throughout the sub-saharan northern territory of Africa, reaching the Saudi Arabia in the Peninsula of the same name (Lorenz 2021). The adult male specimen of Cacheu fits very well this species. Chaudoir (1876) referred that the species is distributed throughout the “Possessions françaises et portugaises sur le Sénégal et l`Abyssinie”. However, strangely, the species was not reported for the “Guinée portugaise” by LaFerté-Sénectère (1853). Now, I confirm its presence in Guinea-Bissau, increasing the number of
Tetragonoderus
species
to seven for this country (LaFerté-Sénectère 1853; Serrano 2009a) (Tables 1–2).
