This species has been recorded from
California
,
Washington
, and
Colorado
. The structure of the male genitalia indicates that it belongs to neither
Plagiognathus
nor
Reuteroscopus
.
The vesica, although similar in general form to that of
Plagiognathus
,
has only a single, rather short, apical spine. Although I have not examined the
holotype
of
falcatus
,
comparison of the
holotypes
of
Microphylellus adustus
and
M. a. binotatus
in the
United States
National Museum of Natural History with authoritatively identified specimens of
falcatus
indicates that these three nominal taxa are the same, with
falcatus
having priority.
