Tarsi are one or twosegmented. A claw pad, dissimilar from that of ephemeropterans, is present in some representatives of
Phthiraptera
(Amblycera, Ischnocera part.) (

). Euplantulae which allow attachment to smooth surfaces are also present in some mallophagan species.
