It was recorded from Yemen by Czerny (1931 as “ Encarsiocera pennipes Czerny ”). Taxonomic remarks. This species is very difficult to recognize as being a Muscid. Consequently it has been described over the years by different taxonomist into different families such as Psilidae (e.g. Czerny 1931 ), Scathophagidae and Lauxaniidae ( Pont 1991 ) , who listed six synonyms. Adults of this species display striking sexual dimorphism in that the face is golden yellow in the male, light grey in the female and the male fore tibia is adorned with long flattened black bristles both dorsally and ventrally, giving it a feathered appearance.
