Eyes 2 + 2. Scutal posteromargin biconvex, well protruded. SB at level of PLs. Ratio PW/AP = 2.65. Dorsal idiosomal setae densely covered with 4 rows of moderate barbs (barbed tetrapectinala). Flagelliform sensilla with small cilia in proximal half and 19 long branches in distal half ( Vercammen-Grandjean & Langston 1976 ). Type material (not examined). Holotype (L: 82153/4) and 3 paratypes larvae ex Tupaia montana Thomas , MALAYSIA : Sabah State , Kinabalu Mt , 21 August 1953 , coll. R . Traub. Type series is deposited in IMR . Etymology. Species epithet refers to the large size of this species, as compared with the closely related Leptotrombidium bodense (Gunther, 1940) .
