Pallary (1925) and Wenz (1929) erroneously referred to it as homonym of " Melanopsis broti " Gassies, 1874, which was actually introduced as Melanopsis brotiana . The replacement name Melanopsis cosiana Pallary, 1925 is thus invalid as it is a junior objective synonym (see also Willmann 1981 ).
