Notes
This was one of the most commonly encountered species in the vicinity of MDRS (Fig. 23), and was seen on sandy desert flats throughout the study area. This species displays a great deal of phenotypic plasticity throughout its range, and hybridizes readily wth other sympatric species of
Atriplex
, complicating taxonomic delimitation (
Stutz 1978
). Previously recorded in the nearby San Rafael Swell as
Atriplex cuneata
A. Nelson (
Harris 1983
), here we follow
Welsh (2003)
in treating this taxon at the subspecies level.
