E. Sánchez, Phytologia 81: 126 (1986) EOO: 5,083.443 km ². AOO: 12 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Endangered. Eugenia mozomboensis has a distribution known only in the states of Veracruz and Hidalgo , occurring in the remnants of Humid Tropical Forest and Humid Montane Forest. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) falls within the thresholds of Endangered and Vulnerable categories under the criterion B, whilst the estimated area of occupancy (AOO) falls into the thresholds of Endangered category. Three collection records were found, two in Veracruz and one for Hidalgo , representing two different locations and all of them have ongoing threats. The habitat is impacted by anthropic activity, such as agriculture, extraction of miners and native forests, in addition to urban growth ( CONABIO 2018 ) from which is inferred a continuing decline of habitat quality. Taking a precautionary approach, Eugenia mozomboensis is classified as Endangered (EN) considering that it is closer the thresholds for Endangered category than Vulnerable (VU), based on its estimated extent of occurrence and number of locations (less than 5). Therefore, it meets the criteria B1ab(iii)+B2ab(iii). Specimens examined :— MEXICO . Hidalgo : Blanco 1549 ( MEXU !); Veracruz : Castillo-Campos et al. 16008 ( MEXU !).
