An adventive species, possibly established in the region. Newly recorded on Prince Edward Island and in the Maritime Provinces as a whole (
Fig. 8
). A Nearctic species found in many parts of the
United States
(
Gerberg 1957
); in
Canada
recorded from
Ontario
(
McNamara 1991b
). It attacks seasoned hardwood timber, but has also been found boring into the trunks of living honey-locust (
Gleditsia triacanthos
L. (
Fabaceae
)) (
Gerberg 1957
).
