About 70 species in the Nearctic (11 species), Neotropical (six species in Middle America), Oriental (16 species), Palaearctic (16 species), and Afrotropical (20
species
) Regions. The species are arrayed in two subgenera:
Omophron
s.str. (about 60 species) and
Phrator
Semenov (eight species in the Mediterranean region and Africa).
