Description.
Holotype
, male. Body elongate ovate. Upperside (
Fig. 8
) bright metallic green, legs entirely yellow, labrum brown, antennae yellow with five apical segments black. Underside darkened, only abdomen with last sternite entirely and sides of other sternites brown.
Labrum transverse, about 2 times as wide as long, its anterior margin almost straight, surface smooth with a few pale setae along anterior margin. Frontoclypeus and especially frons distinctly and rather strongly punctured; frontal tubercles indistinct, flat, frons between them is wide. Vertex sparsely and finely punctured with short longitudinal impression in middle. Interocular space 1.7 times as wide as transverse diameter of eye. Preapical segments of maxillary palpus short, apical segment long with narrow triangular apex. Antennae filiform, only slightly shorter than body; proportions of segments
11-6-10-13-20
-18-19-16-16-15-17 (scale: 1:
0.25 mm
), segment 1 robust and slightly curved; segment 2 thickened, 2 times as long as wide; segments 3–6 almost cylindrical, about 6 times as long as wide; segments 7–10 slightly expanded in middle, 3.5–4 times as long as wide; apical segment lanceolate, about 3.5 times as long as wide.
Prothorax 1.85 times as wide as long, broadest at base, narrowed anteriorly, anterior margin concave, posterior margin strongly convex, lateral margins rounded, surface covered with moderately strong and dense punctures. Anterior angles triangular, posterior angles obtuse. Anterior margin of proepisterna (anterior margin of lateral arms of prosternum) convex; propleurae (pronotal hypomera) smooth, without punctures or microsculpture.
Scutellum as wide as long, subpentagonal with triangular apex, impunctate. Elytra about 1.25 times as long as wide, widest on base, almost parallel-sided in basal half and narrowed posteriorly. Surface without postbasal impression, moderately strongly punctuate; punctures partly arranged in rows on disc; interstices mostly smaller than punctures, but not rugose.
Legs with straight tibiae; all femora not toothed below. Segment 1 of fore and mid-tarsi flattened and widened, about 1.3 times as long as wide, ovate or somewhat harp-like.
Furrow of pygidium not widened apically and with distinct longitudinal ridge in middle. Abdominal sternites 1–4 with long setae in middle, dense and forming brush on sternites 1 and 2, very sparse on sternite 3, rather feeble on sternite 4; sides of sternite 5 slightly serrate on sides.
Aedeagus (
Figs 33–34
) with triangular apex, tip of which forms small tooth, without longitudinal ridge on underside. Length of aedeagus
2.3 mm
.
Body length
4.5 mm
, width
2.8 mm
.
Paratypes
: Males look like the
holotype
, without variability in coloration and in the shape of the aedeagus. Body length 4.0–5.0 mm. Females have legs black with dark brown tarsi. Tarsal segments in females are not widened or flattened. Upperside (
Figs 9–10
) blue-green, blue, violet, or purple, usually with green lateral margins and lower part of head. Sometimes pronotum blue-green. Punctures on pronotum smaller than on elytra. All abdominal sternites and hind legs without setose (hairy) brush. Abdominal sternite 5 deeply emarginate apically. Spermatheca G-shaped (
Fig. 43
). Body length
4.5–5.1 mm
.
Etymology
. The species name refers to similarity with
C. femoralis
.
Distribution
. Northern
Vietnam
.
Differential diagnosis.
The new species belongs to the species group that has a metallic upperside, femora not toothed below, smooth male hypomera and hind femora with a setose brush beneath (group 6 after
Medvedev, 2004
) and it is similar to
C. femoralis
,
from which it differs in the entirely yellow legs, elytra with punctures partly arranged in rows (vs. entirely irregular in
C. femoralis
) and shape of aedeagus as discussed above (
Figs 33–34
). In addition,
C. pseudofemoralis
sp. nov.
has abdominal sternite 4 with poorly developed setose brush, vs. well-developed setose brush on abdominal sternite
4 in
C. femoralis
.

In the key of
Colaspoides
species (
Medvedev, 2004
),
C. pseudofemoralis
sp. nov.
should be placed in group 6, among species with entirely yellow male legs and aedeagus without longitudinal ridge on the preapical part of the underside, between
C. cheni
Medvedev, 2004
and
C. gressitti
Medvedev, 2004
(thesis 16), from which it differs in having setose brushes on abdominal sternites 1, 2 and 4 (
Figs 18–19
), as well in the wider segment 1 of fore and mid-tarsi and in the shape of the aedeagus.
