Remarks . Valid species, teste Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 187) , Brown (1980 : 51, 1994: 60) and Berthold (1991: 246) , who all placed it in Lanistes s . str ., and Cowie & Héros (2012: 807) , who simply placed it in Lanistes . Sometimes misspelled “ lybicus ” or “ lybica ” (e.g. Schaufuss 1869 : 55; Dupuis & Putzeys 1902 : 51; Germain 1907d: 535; G.B. Sowerby III 1916 : 67; Pilsbry & Bequaert 1927 : 183). Type species of Libyciana Bourguignat, here treated as a synonym of Lanistes Montfort. luapulensis Lanistes ellipticus Var . γ. luapulensis Furtado, 1886 : 151.
