( Fig. 7 ). = A . pinsapo var. baborensis Cosson (1866: 144) Type ( lectotype designated here):—[ ALGERIA ], “ Kabyliae orientalis, in regione sylvatica superior montium Babor et Tababor ”, 21 July 1861 , L. Kralik 144 [exsiccatum Plantae Algerienses selectae ] (K barcode K000076228!) ( Fig. 8 ). Isolectotypes : P00507233!, P00507234!, P00507235!, P00507236!, P01636208!, K000076230!, K000076226!, K000076225![?], VTA067017!. Remarks : Cosson (1866: 144) mentioned a concrete gathering in the protologue of Abies pinsapo var. baborensis : “[…] Muséum d’histoire naturelle […] De magnifiques échantillons, munis de cones développés, ont été publiés, en 1861, par les soins de M. Kralik, conservateur de mes collections et l’un des collaborateurs habituels de mes explorations en Algérie . La plante, dans un Exsiccata édité par lui sous le nom de Plantae Algeriensis selectae , porte le nº 144 et est déterminée par moi Abies pinsapo , var. Baborensis . Les échantillons ont été recueillis, le 21 juillet 1861 , par MM. A. Letourneux, H. de la Perraudière, Kralik et moi, ainsi que par M. Lambert”. We have found several specimens at K, VTA, and P belonging to the gathering cited in the protologue, and therefore can be treated as syntypes . The specimens with barcodes K000076230, K000076228 ( Fig. 8 ), K000076226, P00507233, P00507234, P00507235, P00507236, P01636208, and VTA067017, contain the printed original label of the exsiccatum, annotated as: “ L. Kralik. –Plantae Algerienses selectae. / 144. Abies Pinsapo Boiss. var. Baborensis / (Coss.) / In regione sylvatica superior montium Babor et / Tababor Kabyliae orientalis / 21 Julio 1861 ”. On the other hand, the specimen with barcode K000076225 bears a label annotated as: “ Abies Pinsapo Boiss. var. Baborensis Coss. / Baborensis / Djebel Tababor. / petite Kabylie, prov. de Constantine , Algèrie . / E. Cosson , 21 Juill. 1861”. In conclusion, we designate the specimen with barcode K000076228 as the lectotype of Abies pinsapo var. baborensis . It is the most complete and informative specimen of the exsiccatum number 144 collected by L. Kralik in 1861 ( Fig. 8 ).
