This family includes 72 species in three genera:
Epimetopus
Lacordaire
(56 species),
Eumetopus
Balfour-Browne
(eight species), and
Eupotemus
Ji & Jäch
(eight species) (

. 2021

). Five species of the genus
Eumetopus
have been reported from
India
; most of them were represented only by
type
material before the studies by
Fikáček
et al
. (2021)
.
Sharp (1875)
contributed two species and
Régimbart (1903c)
,
Champion (1919)
, and
Skale & Jäch (2003)
the remaining species; all have recently been reviewed by
Fikáček
et al
. (2021)
. Of the five
Indian species
, three are reported from the Deccan Peninsula, two from Himalayas, and one each from the Northeast and Semi–Arid regions (

).
