Palearctic, from Northern Africa Morocco and Algeria through all of Europe (except Ireland ), from Cyprus , through Turkey and South Caucasus eastwards as far as the Altai Republic in Russia ( Leclercq, 1966a ; Chvála et al ., 1972 ). New records . We recorded this species only once feeding on a donkey on the Andros Islands in early July 2020 ( new record for Cyclades ).
