Type :— BRAZIL . Minas Gerais :wet campo, Serra do Cabral , summit ca. 8 km W of Joaquim Felício , 1200 m , 7 March 1970 , H.S. Irwin et al. 27121 [cited by Steyermark (1978) and Souza et al. (2010) as H.S. Irwin et al. 27120 ] ( holotype UB ; isotypes MO2880038 [digital image] !, NY00132262 [digital image]! , RB00177767 [digital image]! ) [ Images of isotypes available at http://www.tropicos.org/ Image /30705, http:// sweetgum.nybg.org/science/vh/specimen_details.php?irn=756649, http://aplicacoes.jbrj.gov.br/jabot/v2/templaterb2. php?colbot=RB&codtestemunho=177767&arquivo=00177767.jpg, respectively]. Fig. 2C–D . The information “27121 not 27120!” is written on the labels of the isotypes , including those from MO and RB, which we cite here for the first time. The description of the type specimens in Steyermark (1978) matches the morphology of these isotypes ; H.S. Irwin et al. 27120 (NY [photo]!) is a specimen of Alternanthera martii Fries (1920: 10) . Mitracarpus pusillus is characterized by its cespitose herbaceous habit with prostrate to decumbent stems, terminal glomerules and circumscissile capsules. It is assessed as Endangered (EN) under the criteria B1ab(iii)+2ab(iii), with EOO = 102.9 km ² and AOO = 16 km ² (.kml file available at http://figshare.com/s/7d283c22772a11e58ef306ec4b8d1f 61). It is known from only two locations and is under continuing decline of suitable habitat due to eucalyptus forestry and agriculture ( Zappi et al. 2014 ). FIGURE 2. Philcoxia minensis flower.A.
